Will takes part in pre-season testing at Hockenheim
Will Palmer headed to Germany last week (21-22 March) to take part in the final Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup test ahead of the opening round of the season in under one month's time. He completed two days of testing at Hockenheim and once again completed a large amount of laps and regularly showed inside the top-10.
The Hockenheim test was not originally part of the pre-season schedule but had been rapidly organised owing to the cancellation of a Nurburgring test, which was shelved due to snow and icy conditions.
The 2.842-mile circuit will host the Formula Renault 2.0 NEC season-finale on October 1/2 and the test marked Will's first experience of the F1 venue. He enjoyed plenty of running with his R-ACE GP team and consistently appeared near the top of the timesheets, as he emerged as one of the fastest rookies at the test.
In recent testing, the Southwater racer has been one of the quickest rookies as he finished 11th fastest overall in Paul Ricard earlier this month, fourth of the first year drivers.
Prior to that, the 19-year-old, who won the McLaren Autosport BRDC Award in 2015, ended the opening pre-season test of the season held at Motorland Aragon in Spain ninth fastest, once again good enough to be the fourth fastest rookie.
The 2015 BRDC Formula 4 Champion will contest campaigns in both Formula Renault Eurocup and the Northern European Cup this year, both with the French R-ACE GP team. The first race of Will's season takes place on the 16/17 April at Aragon in the Eurocup, with the first round of the Northern European Cup taking place one week later at Monza on 23/24 April.
