Will to contest BRDC British F3 round at Spa with HHC Motorsport
BRDC Formula 4 Champion Will Palmer will rejoin his title-winning HHC Motorsport squad for a one-off appearance in the BRDC British Formula 3 Championship, as he competes in rounds 16, 17 and 18 of the 2016 season at Spa-Francorchamps later this week (8/9 July).
The 19-year-old is currently competing in the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 and Formula Renault Northern European Cup (NEC) championships, scoring multiple podium finishes so far this year. The fourth round of the NEC takes place at the legendary Belgian circuit on 29/30 July, with the Eurocup visiting in late September.
Will returns to HHC Motorsport for his first competitive appearance since the final round of the 2015 BRDC Formula 4 Championship. He spent four years with the Harrogate-based outfit, initially in Ginetta Juniors where he finished third overall in 2013. He subsequently graduated to BRDC F4 where he claimed the 2014 Winter Series title before securing the overall 2015 crown, with 12 victories from 24 races. After his successful season last year, the Southwater racer was named as the winner of the prestigious McLaren Autosport BRDC Award.
Will said: "I'm really looking forward to racing in BRDC British
Formula 3 this weekend, particularly at such a legendary track like
Spa. It's also great to be rejoining HHC Motorsport having had so
much success together last year. I'm sure it will be tough as it is
a competitive series and I'm not so familiar with the car, but I'm
confident we can challenge for some strong results."
Charlie Kemp, Commercial Director of HHC Motorsport, commented:
"We are delighted to have Will back in a HHC Motorsport car for the
forthcoming BRDC British F3 round at Spa-Francorchamps. I am sure
it will prove a fruitful experience for Will as he looks to build
his experience ahead of his Formula Renault races here, and with
his strong technical knowledge and feedback it will also prove
extremely useful for the whole team."
Will joins up with South African Sisa Ngebulana and fellow Brit Ben Hingeley driving for HHC Motorsport at Spa.
