Will Palmer honoured at the end-of-season BRDC Awards
Will Palmer was awarded the Jim Clark and Chris Bristow Trophies at the end-of-season BRDC Awards (December 7), held at the Grand Connaught rooms in London, to commemorate his BRDC Formula 4 title winning season and McLaren Autosport BRDC Award (MABA) victory.
The Jim Clark Trophy has been created to honour the winner of the BRDC Formula 4 Championship, with Will the inaugural holder of the award after taking this year's BRDC F4 title. The trophy features Clark's iconic blue helmet and marks the two-time Formula One world champion's involvement in the sport and his links to the British Racing Drivers Club.
The Chris Bristow Trophy is named in honour of Bristow, who was a promising young British racing driver who tragically lost his life in an accident aged 22. The award celebrates young talent and is currently awarded to the MABA winner, with Will being chosen as the winner of this year's award at Sunday evening's (December 6) Autosport Awards ceremony.
The Southwater driver claimed the 2015 BRDC F4 title with a record points haul, taking 12 wins across the season, in addition to three further podiums. He was subsequently nominated for the McLaren Autosport BRDC Award and impressed the judges both on and off the track, through interviews, tests and assessments, and was named as the winner ahead of the other five nominees. Will was also named the British Club Driver of the Year at the Autosport Awards, which is voted for by the readers of the magazine, in a remarkable few days for the youngster.
