Will aiming to extend BRDC F4 championship lead at Snetterton
Will Palmer currently leads the Duo BRDC Formula 4 Championship
standings by 69 points after 15 races and the 18-year-old is hoping
to extend his advantage as the series heads to Snetterton this
weekend (22/23 August), its second visit of the year to the Norfolk
track.
Will opened up the gap to second-placed man Rodrigo Fonseca last
time out at Brands Hatch, with a pair of victories and a fourth
place finish as he dominated the weekend on the legendary Grand
Prix circuit. With nine races left in the season, the Southwater
racer has a healthy lead in the points standings over Mexican
Fonseca and Tom Jackson, who is a further 13 points behind Fonseca
in third.
With rounds 16, 17 and 18 of the season taking place on the
demandingly fast 2.97-mile Snetterton 300 circuit, Will can afford
to be confident having already won once this year on the same
track. In a sodden third race of the weekend at Snetterton in July,
he kept a cool head to take the chequered flag, adding to his
runner-up position in race one.
The HHC Motorsport driver now has six victories this season, in
addition to two other podium finishes, the first coming on Easter
weekend at Oulton Park. A challenging trio of races followed at
Rockingham but Will bounced back magnificently at Silverstone to
claim two wins on the current Grand Prix layout. His success at
Snetterton preceded another double win at Brands Hatch and the BRDC
Rising Star is aiming to add to his tally starting this
weekend.
Will Palmer said: "After a really good weekend at Brands Hatch,
I'm really looking forward to getting back on track at Snetterton,
and hopefully we will be able to keep our good run of form going
and further extend my championship lead."
The 20-minute qualifying session gets underway at 10:40am on
Saturday with lights out to start race one at 14:15pm. The reverse
grid race two is at 10:35am on Sunday morning with the final race
of the weekend starting at 15:05pm.
The final race of the weekend at Snetterton will be broadcast
exclusively live on Motors TV in the UK and across Europe from
15:00pm. The regular one-hour long highlights programme will be
screened on ITV4 and BT Sport a week after the race meeting and
live timing along with text updates will be available throughout
the weekend on the official Formula 4 website here.
