Championship leader Palmer looking forward to F4 at 'The Rock'

Will Palmer heads to Rockingham for rounds four, five and six of the Duo BRDC Formula 4 Championship as the current championship leader, following an impressive opening weekend of the 2015 season at Oulton Park.

The 18-year-old claimed a dominant victory to kick off the year as he streaked away from pole position to lead his HHC Motorsport team-mate Harri Newey over the line by 4.815s in race one. He followed that success with a strong podium finish in race two with third place and rounded out the meeting with a fifth place result in race three. He accumulated 74 points and leads the standings by five points from Manxman Chris Mealin and second-year driver Tom Jackson, who lies a further 11 points adrift.

The Southwater ace heads into the Rockingham event having clocked the fastest time in a BRDC F4 test session at the track in the middle of April. He posted a lap-time of 1:23.504s to edge out fellow HHC driver Newey by 0.229s, with Rodrigo Fonseca third quickest.

Palmer has also shown good form at the Northamptonshire venue in the past, claiming his maiden car racing win at the track in the Ginetta Junior Championship two years ago, adding to his confidence ahead of the weekend.

All 20 drivers on the F4 grid will take to the 1.94-mile long International Super Sports Car Circuit, a layout that features long straights, high-speed bends and a technical, twisty infield section that will stretch all racers to their limits.

It is the series first visit to the Rockingham Motor Speedway as it co-headlines with the Avon Tyres British GT Championship. The third race of the weekend, held on Sunday at 16:15pm, will be broadcast live on Motors TV in the UK. It will be the first time the championship has enjoyed live coverage, and it will compliment the existing extensive highlights package broadcast on ITV4, BT Sport and around the world.

Speaking ahead of the weekend, Palmer said: "I'm really excited to be racing at Rockingham in an F4 car for the first time. Having taken my first car racing podium and first win there in Ginetta Juniors, I'm confident of having another good weekend to continue our strong start to the season."
