Will Palmer confirms F4 participation with HHC Motorsport in 2014
F4 Winter Championship race winner Will Palmer has confirmed he will compete in the 2014 BRDC F4 Championship with HHC Motorsport.
The 16-year-old from Southwater, West Sussex is currently studying for his A Levels at Cranleigh School in Surrey, and is the son of MSV Chief Executive and ex-F1 racer Jonathan Palmer and brother to GP2 frontrunner Jolyon.
Palmer finished third in the Ginetta Junior Championship in 2013 with the Harrogate-based team, claiming his first win at Rockingham in October and nine additional podium finishes throughout the season.
Remaining with HHC, he made his single seater debut in the F4 Winter Championship in November, impressing with a commanding win from pole position at Brands Hatch in just his fifth race in the category, as well as a further podium at Snetterton on his way to fifth overall in the championship standings.
Will has raced with the Yorkshire squad since 2012 and enters F4 with title ambitions ahead of his first full season of single seater competition.
"I'm really excited to be moving into Formula 4 next year with HHC Motorsport" Palmer commented. "Formula 4 was the obvious choice for me, especially after how competitive the series proved to be in its first year. I'm also really pleased to be continuing with HHC for what will be my third year driving for them. They are a great group of guys and we proved we could be very strong together in the Formula 4 Winter Championship last year, so hopefully we can build on that and be challenging for podiums and a win or two. It's going to be a very competitive season with many strong and experienced drivers."
HHC Team Principal Charlie Kemp is delighted to further extend the team's relationship with Palmer. "It's great to continue our relationship with Will Palmer. He's developed a lot with us and did a great job in the two years with us in Ginetta Juniors. He did a truly fantastic job in the F4 Winter Series and to get a win in just his second weekend in single seaters was outstanding. I am looking forward to working with him once more, and seeing him play a key role in our push for the 2014 F4 Championship."
